Sailor, 74, Sets Sights On Being Oldest To Sail Solo Non-Stop Across The World

Jeanne Socrates has sailed enough ocean kilometers, 160,000, to circumnavigate the entire world seven times. Now she desires to begin a new record. Socrates had been acknowledged by Guinness World reports and nautical associations, such as the Cruising Club of America, since the oldest woman to circumnavigate the world in a non-stop, solo, unassisted sailing trip. She completed the trip in 2013, Victoria to Victoria in 258 times.
On Oct. 17, the 74-year-old English woman will leave Ogden Point once again to perform another circumnavigation. But this time she really wants to become the earliest individual to sail throughout the world, solamente, non-stop and unassisted. The record is held by yachtsman Minoru Saito of Japan, who completed a fruitful sail around the world in June, 2005 at age of 71, in accordance with his site.
